Somerset House is one of London’s most iconic cultural venues — a landmark setting with serious heritage, beautiful event spaces and the flexibility to host everything from exhibitions and brand moments to large-scale private receptions.

For this festive event, the space was transformed into a polished Christmas party setting, with KERB Events delivering a curated selection of food from some of London’s finest independent operators, bars, drinks service, cloakrooms and full on-site event catering operations for a leading financial services client.

The Brief

KERB Events was brought in to deliver a slick, festive food and drink experience for 400 guests at Somerset House.

The brief required a premium but relaxed Christmas party offer — combining trayserved food, fast-paced drinks service, mince pie stands, mulled wine, cloakrooms and smooth guest flow across two 45-minute service sessions.

We curated a line-up of 3 KERB traders, each bringing a festive twist to the evening. The food offer included Mother Flipper’s Christmas slider menu, with roast turkey buns, Brie, sage and onion stuffing and cranberry sauce; Komex Kitchen’s Korean BBQ tacos, including soy, garlic and ginger braised chicken with caramelised kimchi; and Deluxe Dogs, serving loaded hotdogs including German krakauer frankfurters and a vegan option.

Each guest received two medium savoury street food items, tray-served from a back-of-house location, giving the event the energy and flavour of KERB street food while keeping service polished, mobile and suited to the venue.

Big event, smooth festive operations

With 400 guests arriving for a tightly timed evening reception, the operation needed to be precise from load-in to load-out.

We commenced load-in at 13:00, with the event show-ready by 19:00. Food and drink service was delivered across two 45-minute guest sessions, before load-out commenced once guests were clear at 22:00.

Our team managed the full pre-event and on-site operation, including trader sourcing, menu curation, dietary and allergen procedures, floor plans, trader placement, guest flow, production logistics, power requirements, health and safety, and trader briefing.

On the night, KERB supervised load-in and de-rig, managed all catering staff, oversaw food and drink service, and ensured every element — from bars and tray service to cloakrooms and branded roller units — ran smoothly

KERB’s bars keeping the Christmas party flowing

The drinks brief was built around speed and festive atmosphere.

KERB Events delivered 2 fully staffed bars, complete with bar equipment, ice, garnish and glassware. The unlimited drinks package included prosecco, nonalcoholic prosecco, beer, non-alcoholic beer, wine and soft drinks, with drinks service running for 45 minutes per guest group.

To add another festive layer, mulled wine was available at both bars, while mince pie stands offered a complimentary seasonal touch. KERB staff also provided tray service of prosecco, helping create a warm welcome and keeping the energy moving throughout the reception.

The result was a slick, festive reception for 400 guests — bringing the energy of KERB into a premium corporate event setting.
